Shawn Pean is the founder of June79, a luxury brand that aims to redefine luxury among a new renaissance consumer. Based in NYC, the brand highlights American luxury manufacturing and craftsmanship within the luxury menswear category. Prior to launching June79, Shawn served as thePresident/Managing Director for Balmain USA and oversaw the entire North/South American operation of the brand and launched the domestic entity of the company. Prior to this role, Shawn was the Vice President of Wholesale for Valentino USA, overseeing all categories, where he was also responsible for brand business development in South America. Prior to these roles, Shawn spent nine years with luxury retailer, Saks Fifth Avenue, in various buying roles from Men's accessories to footwear and outerwear. He was acknowledged by Saks Fifth Avenue in 2010 as Buyer of the Year, the “Ski Slope Award” for buyers who think creatively and outside the box to drive their respective businesses. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Shawn’s career began at JC Penny in their Executive Training Program, where he learned fundamentals of retail buying and merchandising, which helped to shape his career journey. Shawn currently lives in New York City and is a graduate from the University of Maryland with a B.S in International Business and Fashion Merchandising Throughout his career, Shawn has championed the importance of advancing Black talent within the fashion industry. He serves on the advisory board of the Black in Fashion Council and as a DEI advisor and mentor at RAISE Fashion, an organization dedicated to connecting Black owned brands and individuals to fashion professionals for pro-bono support. His work with June79 will continue his dedication and commitment to supporting underrepresented talent.
