Welcome to another exciting episode of the 7-Figure Educator Podcast! Today, we have the pleasure of hosting Tiffany Kelly, CEO of FitTeach and an alum of the Wealthy Black Educator Community. Tiffany’s journey is nothing short of inspiring, filled with resilience, innovation, and a passion for education and wellness.
Tiffany’s entry into the education sector was unconventional. With a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, she found herself bedridden for four months due to health challenges in her early 20s. This period of recovery marked a turning point in her life. Upon recovery, she secured a teaching position through her father’s connections, starting as an elementary math floater. Her journey began in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, near the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where she faced numerous challenges but excelled, proving her ability to manage various behavior issues.
In 2001, Tiffany decided to explore new opportunities in Atlanta, inspired by her cousin's success. Her impressive work as a math coach in New York, where her school was ranked fourth in the city for mathematics improvement, set the stage for her move. In Atlanta, she continued to thrive, teaching fourth-grade girls and eventually becoming an instructional coach. Her role evolved into a turnaround coach, specializing in revitalizing struggling schools within a year. Tiffany’s dedication and expertise shone through as she successfully implemented new curriculums and improved school performances.
Tiffany’s entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured by her father, a successful entrepreneur himself. Growing up, she learned the importance of freedom, responsibility, and perseverance from him. At just 15, Tiffany was managing aspects of her father's businesses, from firing employees to developing inventory systems. These experiences laid a strong foundation for her future ventures.
Her entrepreneurial journey began with various small businesses, including a hair business during college and a tutoring company in Atlanta. However, it was her passion for wellness and fitness that led to the creation of FitTeach. Inspired by her personal weight loss journey, Tiffany aimed to bring wellness to the forefront of education. She realized the need to prioritize health and wellness for educators, enabling them to better serve their school communities.
FitTeach focuses on promoting wellness among K-12 school districts and leaders. Tiffany’s innovative approach integrates healthy eating and fitness into the daily routines of educators. Her workshops, like “Dear Educator, Put Your Oxygen Mask on First,” emphasize the importance of self-care and resilience. Using creative themes and relatable scenarios, Tiffany engages educators, helping them develop personalized self-care plans.
Her services extend beyond in-person workshops, offering virtual sessions to accommodate various needs. Tiffany’s unique blend of fitness and cooking expertise also plays a crucial role in her offerings, providing educators with practical tools to improve their overall well-being.
Tiffany’s journey has not been without challenges. In 2015, she faced significant losses, including her home and personal relationships. However, these adversities only strengthened her resolve. During a medical leave, Tiffany conceptualized FitTeach, honoring her late principal, who had been a mentor and inspiration. Her resilience and dedication to helping others through wellness and education became the driving force behind FitTeach’s success.
Tiffany’s vision for FitTeach continues to evolve. By collaborating with school leaders and districts, she aims to create a culture of wellness that benefits both educators and students. Her innovative approach addresses the often-overlooked aspect of educator wellness, highlighting its impact on the overall educational environment.
In conclusion, Tiffany Kelly’s journey is a testament to the power of resilience, innovation, and the impact of prioritizing wellness. Through FitTeach, she is transforming the educational landscape, one self-care plan at a time. We are thrilled to have shared her inspiring story on the Seven Figure Educator Podcast, and we look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of her work in the education sector.
