Valeisha's vision with SEED is to positively transform one billion people through the power of storytelling by 2050. The venture develops, produces and distributes best-selling books for television and film, unlocking new, global audiences.

Valeisha currently serves as the Honorary Chair of the Black Music Collective, a member of the GRAMMYs Television Committee and a board member at GRAMMY Global Ventures with a recent announcement of the GRAMMY Awards expanding to Africa and the Middle East.‍

Valeisha has also led transformation for major brands, including the Administration of President Barack Obama and as the National Youth Vote Director for the Obama for America campaign, helping to deliver one of the highest youth voter turnouts in American history (12.3M voters; 45% turnout; 18-29 years of age). ‍

She also led partnerships and engagement for Google globally for nearly a decade, creating and co-founding the State of Black Women at Google and Latinos at Google (expanding to five women of color platforms), launching the first-ever Disability Inclusion summit in Tokyo and accelerating inclusion outcomes internally and externally, representing more than 40K Googlers and 150+ external organizations and key opinion formers/leaders during her tenure.

Valeisha was born in Wilson, NC and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Clark Atlanta University. She currently serves on the board of directors of GRAMMY Global Ventures and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Valeisha is a proud mom and daughter of U.S. Congressman G. K Butterfield and N.C. State Legislator Jean Farmer Butterfield, both retired.
